Gail Cross: principal and creative director

Gail has worked as a Graphic Designer for over 25 years, first working for printers and small agencies, then gaining clients until opening Desert Isle Design, LLC in 1996. In 2006 Desert Isle Design expanded to a new office with a new designer, and continued to create stellar book designs for publishers nationwide featuring award-winning national and international authors and artists as well as graphic design for other small to medium-sized companies.

"I try to make the type design compliment the art rather than compete with it or
cover it up. I think it's important to make things readable, clean and simple, and communicate the message, whether it be for a book cover, sales brochure, glossy
annual report or a simple ad."

Also a believer in a balanced lifestyle, Gail enjoys family time, movies, travel, and martial arts where she has earned a third-degree black belt in Goju Shorei Karate. Gail earned a BFA in Fine Art in 1982 from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Jen Urso: senior designer

Jen has over 12 years experience in graphic design ranging from screenprinting to print to web. She is also an accomplished visual artist who has exhibited in New York, Brazil, California and throughout Arizona. She is originally from Southeastern PA and received a BFA in Art in 1996 from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Polly Parks: office assistant

Polly comes to us with over 15 years of office and bookkeeping experience and 14 years of banking experience. She is also a roller figure skating competitor and has been teaching/coaching roller figure skating for nearly 20 years. Polly is a Phoenix, Arizona native.
